About the Role:

 Syntech Recruitment are currently working with this client who are a prestigious fit-out company that specialise in high end bespoke joinery and refurbishment. They are  seeking a proactive and results-driven Buyer to join their team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for procuring materials and services at competitive prices while ensuring timely delivery to support our manufacturing programmes. Your strong negotiation skills and effective communication will be essential as you collaborate with internal stakeholders—including sales, drawing, and manufacturing—to drive our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Tender & Estimator Collaboration:
  • Partner with estimators during the tender stage to secure competitive pricing and identify long lead items.
• Supplier Engagement:
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve technical queries and address issues before drawing approvals.
• Order Management:
  • Place orders for requisitioned items at the best price and ensure suitable delivery schedules.
• Delivery Oversight:
  • Monitor order progress and manage subcontract works to meet project timelines.
  • Escalate any delivery or supply issues to the relevant contract or setting out manager.
• Invoice & Dispute Resolution:
  • Sign off on monthly invoices against delivery notes to maximize discounts.
  • Identify discrepancies, coordinate with suppliers to resolve issues, and secure credit notes when necessary

• Compliance:
  • Follow all company procedures, including purchase invoice management and quality checks.
  • Resolve any commercial disputes with suppliers to benefit the company.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• Familiarity with joinery and metalwork is advantageous.
• Proven strong negotiation skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• A flexible and committed approach with a drive to meet company objectives.
• NVQ in Business is a plus.
