Machine Shop Manager

A new position has been created within the factory for a Machine Shop Manager to provide leadership to a very busy machine room.

Tasks of the Machine Shop Manager:

• Management of existing team leaders for each machining discipline
• Introduce and integrate problem solving methodology across the factory
• Working alongside the Quality Manager to identify areas for improvement
• Manage machine shop KPIs and produce reports
• Assist in setting operational and CAPEX budgets and operate within them
• Planning of daily machine shop operations
• Perform workload reviews to ensure manpower and resources are effectively utilised
• Identify areas where additional recruitment or resources are necessary
• Manage consumable stock and develop stock control processes
• Ensure high standards are met regarding quality, lead times and health and safety compliance
• Conduct performance and development reviews for team leaders
• Gather and share performance and quality data to plant manager

The profile of a successful Machine Shop Manager:

• Qualified to Degree level in an engineering related discipline
• Proven and demonstrable leadership and management skills
• Project management and visual management experience
• Strong understanding of manufacturing principles
• Previous use of PFMEA problem solving techniques
• Experience using ERP Systems
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and principles
• Machine room management experience within an aerospace, motorsport or automotive environment
• It is essential that you can read, understand and interpret complex engineering drawings
