Additional hours may be required dependant on client requirements
Our client is a very well established mechanical engineering organisation offering complete project services to a variety of industries including Petro-Chemical, Oil & Gas, Power, Water and Pharmaceutical. Working to the relevant industry codes and standards, they pride themselves in delivering high end solutions to client specific requirements with a high emphasis on safety & quality assurance.
The main purpose of the Piping Engineer is to produce piping isometrics and detailed steelwork drawings for the engineering/ production department.
The Piping Engineer must be computer literate & proficient user of AutoCAD/ drawing software to be able to produce piping isometrics & steelwork drawings to issue to the workshop for fabrication. Experience in the Oil & Gas/Petrochemical industry. Must hold a full UK driving licence.
Responsibilities of the Piping Engineer are;
Carry out site surveys, gathering detailed survey information and producing survey reports.
- Carry out GA modelling & design activities of piping systems & supports.
- Produce piping isometrics & detailed steelwork drawings suitable for fabrication including piece mill part drawings, parallel line developments and templates.
- Adhere to P&IDs when designing pipework drawings.
- Draught & check detailed design drawings of piping systems & supports in accordance with industry standards, codes and client specifications.
- Prepare & check bill of materials.
- Provide technical input during detailed engineering of projects.
- Provide support and input into the preparation of construction work packs. (create weld maps and understand level of NDE requirements)
- Conversant with ASME & BS EN standards.
- Knowledge of piping design and calculations is an asset plus a good ability to work with a 3D model and various tools is advantageous.
The Piping Engineer must have a sound understanding, working knowledge and experience with the following industry codes and standards is desired.
- Pressure vessel codes ASME VIII & PD5500.
- ASME U & R stamp.
- Pipe work codes ASME B31.3 / ASME B31.1
- E.D requirements including CE and UKCA Marking.
- Welding standards to ASME IX & BS 15614
