Our client, an industry leading manufacturing business based close to Newbury, Berkshire are currently looking for a highly committed, talented and experienced Quality Engineer. The successful Quality Engineer will be tasked with analysing failure and implementing corrective and preventative actions along with having a thorough understanding of PPAP.

Quality Engineer duties:

  • Analyse failures, implement corrective and preventative actions to respond to customer complaints (both internal and external)
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with respect to technical matters internally, with suppliers, and customers.
  • Prepare accurate and timely 8D reports for customers.
  • Prepare accurate and timely PPAP's for customers. Review and approve supplier PPAP's.
  • Perform quality audits of supplier operating systems as required (IATF 16949 & VDA 6.3).
  • Travel to supplier/customer locations to resolve problems and initiate containment as necessary. Overnight travel may be required in some cases.
  • Provide technical support and training to engineering and manufacturing departments/personnel.
  • Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and feasibility review meetings.
  • Participate in PFMEA review meetings.
  • Support the Internal Audit Team/Perform internal audits as necessary (IATF 16949 & VDA 6.3).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.



Leadership Responsibilities:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Degree educated in industrial, manufacturing, mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in a manufacturing quality role.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Complete understanding of PPAP.
  • Proficient in quality analysis tools such as 8D, SPC, and PFMEA.
  • Proven track record with OEM customers.
  • Experience with Kaizen, Lean implantations
  • Comprehensive understanding of IATF 16949 & VDA 6.3 requirements.
  • VDA 6.3 certified auditor
  • IATF 16949 certified auditor
  • Able to analyse data by completing hypothesis, normal distribution, and process capability analysis test.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems
