UK Sales Manager – Power Switching and Monitoring

The main role of the UK Sales Manager-Power Switching & Monitoring is to provide day-to-day support to the UK Managing Director by managing the Power Switching and Monitoring Product Sales Team in order to maximise its operational effectiveness and meet revenue, margin targets and Company goals and objectives.

About the role

The successful candidate will need to acquire an excellent knowledge of the company’s Power Switching and Power Monitoring products. In addition they will require a good understanding of the:

  • Applications in which these products are used.
  • Commercial dynamics of the UK market.
  • Key target segments for Power Switching and Power Monitoring products.
  • Strategic and tactical objectives of company’s Switchgear and metering Business Application (BA).
  • The different requirements of managing project vs business through distributers.
  • Management of a distribution structure, developing long term commercial partnerships
  • Competitive environment and key areas of differentiation for the company.

The people/sales management activities of the role will comprise:

  • Ensure professional development and motivation of the UK PSM Sales Team to achieve their individual commercial objectives and efficiency.
  • Acting as a coach and mentor to help members of the team solve commercial issues.
  • Monitor implementation of corporate tools and procedures in the team
  • Put in place action plans or, if necessary and with support from HR, disciplinary procedures in the case of under-performance.
  • Working with the UK Managing Director and PSM BA to assist in the definition of annual objectives/targets for each member of the PSM Sales Team.
  • Organisation of sales meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaison between the UK sales team and the PSM BA to ensure well-coordinated and successful new product launches/pricing changes/product promotions.
  • Ensure the business is developed in a sustainable and profitable way.
  • Ensure the targets set as per the company budget are achieved.
  • Being the representative of the PSM sales team when reporting major quality issues, competitor activity or significant new opportunities to the UK and Corporate Senior Management Teams.
  • Escalating to the UK Managing Director significant issues relating to individual or team sales performance.
  • Consolidation of monthly PSM forecasts information and activity reports and providing this to the PSM BA and UK Senior Management Team prior to month end.
  • Acting as representative of PSM Sales Team when required.
  • Co-ordinate joint activity with the PSM ES/PCO Sales Managers in the UK
  • Perform annual appraisals via PeopleSoft
About you

  • Degree or similar qualification in Electrical Engineering
  •  Strong experience managing Sales Engineers selling Switchgear and metering products. An electrical engineering back-ground is essential.
