Our client is a world class OEM based close to Woking, Surrey and they are currently looking for an experienced Wire Person to join them on a permanent basis. Working for this award-winning business the successful applicant will be an integral part of the business, this position would suit an individual with experience in all aspects of cable assembly (includes wire stripping, tinning, soldering, crimping, sleeving and lacing).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manufacture, multi pin cable assemblies and harnesses to Engineering drawings and specifications;
  • Use techniques and self-inspection standards to IPC-620 class 3;
  • Soldering and crimping of miniature connectors, solder buckets and contacts;
  • Test the assemblies for continuity and isolation using automated test equipment on the shop floor;
  • Work to production schedules and be able to give status updates with expected completion dates to the Team Leader;
  • Work with the rest of the production team and be adaptable in order to carry out multiple tasks to ensure site delivery schedules are met.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous wiring or cable assembly manufacturing experience is necessary to undertake the role;
  • Understanding of Engineering drawings and reading of detailed process procedures;
  • Good dexterity with a persistent nature;
  • Good eyesight due to miniature connectors and fine wires;
  • Use of molex and similar crimp tools;
  • Ability to solder wires into miniature solder buckets to a high quality is essential;
  • A quality led mind-set and the ability to write and clearly record traceability information related to the build of product;
  • IPC-620 certified preferred but not essential.
