Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum + Overtime potential

We’re supporting a long-established engineering and manufacturing business in Woking who are seeking a skilled Mechanical Inspector to join their Quality team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced inspector who enjoys hands-on work, varied inspection tasks, and being closely involved with machine shop operations.

Mechanical Inspector Role

You’ll be responsible for inspecting a wide range of machined, cast, moulded and plated components, carrying out dimensional, visual and functional checks across all stages of the manufacturing process. Key duties include:

  • Inspecting components using first-principle measurement techniques
  • Creating CMM programmes and inspecting CNC-machined components
  • Conducting roving, inter-stage, machine shop first, and final inspections
  • Producing FAIRs, Control Plans and other inspection documentation
  • Verifying supplier first shipments and high-risk supplied materials
  • Updating the ERP system and providing feedback to internal teams
  • Ensuring safe working practices and maintaining high housekeeping standards

Mechanical Inspector Profile

  • Minimum 3 years’ inspection experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing
  • Proficient with CMMs (e.g., Aberlink Axiom) and non-contact measurement techniques
  • Skilled in using micrometers, verniers, DTIs, height gauges, surface plates and other first-principles equipment
  • Confident generating First Article Inspection Reports and Control Plans
  • Experience working within ISO 9001 environments (desirable)
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification beneficial
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple departments
