Team Leader – Waste Water

Syntech Recruitment are working with a specialist client to recruit a Team Leader for a permanent position. The successful candidate will have previous knowledge and experience of wastewater and sludge treatment or similar, with a proven track record in plant fault finding and troubleshooting. The role requires the candidate to work both as the lead of a team and on an individual basis across all areas of the plant. A recognised qualification in a relevant discipline would be an advantage.

Team Leader Duties

• Supervise and manage a team of Operators, carrying out JPAs, PDRs and discipline procedures
• Organise shift rotation and ensure adequate cover at all times
• Ensure cross-over training is carried out and adequate cover is maintained across all areas of the plant and all shifts
• Ensure plant and equipment are operated safely and efficiently
• Complete the isolation section of work permits for maintenance staff and contractors
• Report and track maintenance issues
• Co-ordinate with the Operations Manager and Process Engineers on process changes and optimisation
• Ensure tools, safety equipment and PPE are provided and checked
• Prepare operational risk assessments, method statements and SOPs
• Ensure all operator tasks are carried out safely and procedures are followed, including:
  • Maintaining proper housekeeping at all times
  • Accurate data acquisition and recording
  • Routine cleaning and inspections
  • Recording all necessary information in site logbooks
  • Correct isolation of equipment prior to maintenance work
  • Carrying out health and safety checks correctly, as required
• Participate in the on-call rota

Team Leader Requirements

• Previous knowledge and experience of wastewater and sludge treatment or similar
• Proven track record in plant fault finding and troubleshooting
• Experience leading a team as well as working on an individual basis
• Suitable proficiency in computing, daily administration and record-keeping associated with the operation of a modern wastewater treatment plant
• A recognised qualification in a relevant discipline (advantageous)
