Business Development Manager – Manufacturing

Our client is looking for a Business Development Manager to cover the UK and predominantly build their Midlands/Northern business. The Business Development Manager will work closely with our Machine Shop, Production and Marketing departments.

This role will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building client relationships, and driving growth within our subcontract machining and metal coating/anodising divisions.

Key Responsibilities:

 Business Development existing accounts; Lead in the expansion of existing accounts;
 Business Development new accounts: Identify, develop and secure new business opportunities in the subcontract machining and metal finishing markets;
 Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions;
 Sales Targets: Meet and exceed sales targets and KPI’s;
 Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams dealing with leads, estimates, quotes, proposals and bids across both divisions to ensure client’s requirements are met.

Other Responsibilities:
Estimating, quoting and closing:  Receive and interpret customers’ requirements from CAD, technical specifications or computer models;  Prepare detailed quotations, proposals and bids for sub-contract machining, finishing and assembly work;  Review costs, acceptable margins with Group Machine Shop Manager/ Production Team;
 Decide to bid or not bid on specific Requests For Quote;  Prepare detailed speculative costings and proposals for longer term high value projects;
 Liaise with customers and follow up quotations to close orders.

New Business Development:
 Assist in Marketing campaigns;
 Maintain an up-to-date sales/prospects database;
 Maintain an up to date Customer Relationship Marketing database;
 Manage the sales pipeline;
 Develop a network of industry knowledge, manufacturing processes and contacts.

This role will be supported by;
 Lead Generation Management, providing filtered/targeted leads;
 Estimators for both subcontract machining and metal finishing

What we are looking for:
 A proven, competent Engineer, whether through apprenticeship, academic, or time served;
 Minimum of 5 years’ experience in any one of:
o Engineering/Manufacturing/Estimating/Engineering Business Development.   Able to read CAD /engineering drawings;  Software literate (Microsoft Office, Social Media), at user level;  Domestic travel will be required across all of the UK, visiting customer sites, and occasional trips to the office  Attendance at trade shows and conferences will be required;  Dynamic, well organised, self-starter;  Customer-focused approach and attitude – for both internal and external customers;  Ability to manage prioritise own work load and work under pressure in a busy environment.

KPI’s:
1. New Client Acquisition: Number of new client acquired in a given period;
2. Revenue Growth: Increase in revenue from existing and new clients;
3. Client Retention rate: Percentage of clients retained over a given period;
4. Sales Conversion rate: Percentage of leads that convert into sales;
5. Customer Satisfaction: Measured through surveys and feedback;
6. Profit Margin: The net profit margin is a key profitability metric for a company.

What’s on offer:
This is a full time, permanent position, 36 hours per week and the standard working hours are applicable. Monday to Thursday 9.00am to 5.15pm and Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm with an hour for lunch break, with flexibility on the start and finish times, in line with the Company’s core working hours.
