Syntech Recruitment are partnering with an engineering contractor to recruit experienced Carbon Steel Pipefitters for industrial pipework installation in Limerick.

This contractor has delivered major mechanical engineering projects across oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, pharmaceutical, distilling and food & beverage sectors for over 30 years. Work involves large and heavy bore process pipework, flanged and welded systems, pressure testing and commissioning on major industrial projects for some of the world’s largest multinationals across Ireland and the UK.

Carbon Steel Pipefitter Responsibilities
· Install and assemble large and heavy bore carbon steel pipework systems on process plant and industrial projects
· Work from isometric drawings, P&IDs and piping specifications independently
· Carry out pipe preparation — cutting, bevelling, grinding and accurate fit-up ahead of coded welding
· Align, support and secure pipework to tolerances prior to welding — tacking where qualified to do so
· Work closely with coded pipe welders throughout fabrication and installation phases
· Install flanged connections, valves, spools and associated pipework components correctly and to specification
· Support pressure testing, leak testing and commissioning activities on completed systems
· Maintain pipework documentation, spool records and traceability throughout
· Work within formal QA systems — punch lists, inspection test records and completion dossiers
· Operate safely on a structured industrial project site — PTW systems, toolbox talks, daily progress reporting
· Adhere to all site safety procedures and ISO 9001 / BS ISO 45001 quality and safety standards
· Ensure all work is completed right-first-time to project and client inspection standards

Carbon Steel Pipefitter Requirements
· Trade qualified or time-served — Pipefitter, Mechanical Fitter or equivalent
· Minimum 5 years carbon steel pipefitting experience on industrial projects
· Proven experience on process plant across oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, pharmaceutical, distilling or food & beverage — large and heavy bore pipework systems essential
· Confident reading and interpreting isometric drawings, P&IDs and piping specifications independently
· Strong fit-up skills — accurate cutting, bevelling and joint preparation to welding procedure requirements
· Experience installing flanged connections, valves, expansion joints and associated components
· Familiar with pipe supports, hangers and restraints — design and installation
· Understanding of pressure testing procedures — hydrostatic and pneumatic testing on process systems
· Rigging and slinging awareness — slinger/signaller/banksman and safe use of lifting equipment
· Experience working within formal QA systems and structured EPC project environments
· Familiar with permit-to-work systems — confined space, working at height, hot work
· CSCS / Safe Pass / relevant site safety card
· Available for immediate start

Highly Desirable
· MMA or TIG welding ability alongside fitting — coded or previously coded a significant advantage
· Plant tickets — 360 excavator, telehandler, articulated dumper or MEWP
· Experience on large-scale capital projects with formal inspection and completion dossier requirements
· Knowledge of ASME B31.3 process piping standard and associated QA documentation
· Experience working to oil & gas, power generation or pharmaceutical major client standards
