Syntech Recruitment are partnering with an established mechanical engineering contractor to recruit experienced Coded Carbon Steel Pipe Welders for immediate start on major industrial projects in Limerick.

This contractor has delivered large-scale mechanical engineering projects across oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, pharmaceutical and food process sectors for over 30 years. Work involves large and heavy bore pipework, process pipework installation, tank erection and boiler work across Ireland and the UK for some of the world’s largest multinationals.

Coded Carbon Steel Pipe Welder Responsibilities
· Carry out MMA (Stick) welding on carbon steel pipework to coded standards
· Work from WPS, P&IDs and isometric drawings on process plant and oil & gas projects
· Perform root, fill and cap passes to radiographic standard in all fixed positions
· Prepare pipe joints including bevelling, grinding and fit-up
· Work across both the fabrication facility and on-site project locations
· Complete welds in line with project specifications and QA requirements
· Visually inspect welds and support NDT processes where required
· Maintain welding documentation, weld maps and traceability records
· Work closely with pipefitters and supervisors during installation phases
· Adhere to site safety procedures, permit-to-work systems and ISO 9001 / BS ISO 45001 standards
· Ensure all work is completed right-first-time to radiographic quality expectations

Coded Carbon Steel Pipe Welder Requirements
· Minimum 5 years coded pipe welding experience on carbon steel systems
· Active or recently held MMA coded certification — ASME IX or BS EN ISO 9606-1 — with evidence of coded work within the last 12 months
· 6G or equivalent all-position welding capability — fixed pipe, overhead and vertical passes essential
· Proven experience on process plant, oil & gas, petrochemical or power generation projects
· Ability to read and interpret isometric drawings, weld maps and P&IDs independently
· Competent in multi-pass welding — root, fill and cap to radiographic standard
· Strong understanding of weld quality, visual inspection criteria and NDT support requirements
· Experience working within formal QA systems and under RT/UT inspection regimes
· Familiar with structured project environments — PTW systems, toolbox talks, daily progress reporting
· Willing to work across fabrication facility and on-site project locations in Ireland and the UK

Highly Desirable
· TIG root welding capability on carbon steel or stainless
· Experience on large and heavy bore pipework systems
· Previous work on boiler systems, tank erection or large-scale mechanical plant
· CSCS / Safe Pass / relevant site safety card
· Familiarity with ASME B31.3 process piping standard
· Experience working to oil & gas major client standards
