Head of Research & Development (Optoelectronics)


Starting Salary: £90,000 per annum, with a potential rise within 3 years to Director level
Location: Woking, Surrey (with occasional international travel and remote working)
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm (with flexibility around company core hours)

About the Role: Are you a highly innovative individual with a passion for driving technological advancements? We are seeking a Head of Research & Development to join a tight, dynamic team. Based at our clients manufacturing base near Woking, this role involves leading research initiatives, exploring new technologies, and collaborating with external research organizations and academics.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the Concept Development Team to drive research programs and generate innovative new technologies, especially around Optoelectronics
  • Collaborating with external research organizations and academics
  • Overseeing the development of proof of concept models
  • Providing technical support to manufacturing

Requirements:

  • BSc or BEng in a Physical Science, Engineering, Optoelectronics, Photonics, Electronic Engineering, or Mechatronics
  • Experience of Optoelectronics within a R&D Environment
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in relevant R&D environments
  • Strong technical creativity and hands-on problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
