Experienced Supervisor / Cell Leader needed for our client who are based close to Beaconsfield, they are a world-renowned Aerospace business. Health and safety is paramount to this position, so the successful candidate should have extensive knowledge around Health & Safety procedures, work instructions, SOP's, PWI's and 5s. Job purpose:

  • Ensure that the Health and Safety system is suitable and sufficient for the finishing department.

  • To supervise a team of operators and ensure that output/production targets are achieved through efficient deployment of people and machine capacity.

  • Ensure that the production schedule is adhered to within H&S requirements and in accordance with the relevant SOP's, Work Instructions and PWI's

  • Drive improvement activities such as 5S and ToC etc.



Manufacturing Cell Leader accountabilities:
Ensure there is a current Risk Assessment Review Plan either by creating one or updating an existing one.

Ensure all hazards are identified and suitable and sufficient risk assessments are in place to cover the hazards either by reviewing existing risk assessments or creating new risk assessments.

Ensure all relevant safe systems of work are in place and where required create new ones.

Ensure all chemicals used in the department are identified and the relevant CoSHH assessments are reviewed or created where needed through the review of safety data sheets and other relevant documentation.

Train and monitor the team in conjunction with other cell leaders against the Risk Assessment Review Plan, SSW's, CoSHH and other relevant documentation.

Review manual handling tasks and ensure suitable training has been carried out.

Conduct audits in accordance with health and safety procedures i.e., A75, A70

Plan, monitor and allocate work as determined by job packs and maximise the output of people and machines in the cell.

Communicate and monitor team performance against KPI/metrics, e.g., shortages, spares orders, deliveries, and priorities daily.

Investigate the causes of poor productivity and implement action plans to address them.

Provide progress updates at regular weekly departmental meetings answering queries from internal departments and line management

People Management

  • Monitoring of sick absence and attendance

  • Completion of appraisals and Training plans

  • Maintaining a skills matrix for their team

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant SOP's, Work Instructions and PS's and that all necessary records and logs are completed accurately and in a timely fashion.



Manufacturing Cell Leader Experience & Skills:

  • Experience of Health and Safety standards

  • Experience of managing people.

  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment Good Computing skills - emails. SAP or equivalent

  • Due to the hands-on nature of the role, experience in the work of the team is an advantage.

  • Numerical ability - interpreting graphs, percentages, analysing trend data

  • Knowledge of company products



Desirable:

  • HNC/HND Engineering related discipline or Apprenticeship
