Syntech Recruitment are working with a specialist client to recruit a Mechanical Fitter for a large-scale municipal wastewater treatment plant. Working as part of a Mechanical Team, the successful candidate will carry out maintenance, repairs and installations, and play a key role in minimising downtime and driving continuous improvement across the plant.

Mechanical Fitter Duties

• Work as part of a Mechanical Team and supervise contractors for maintenance, repairs and installations
• Carry out preventative maintenance work on the plant
• Maintain the Engineering area through good housekeeping
• Contribute to the identification, quantification, implementation and presentation of equipment continuous improvement projects
• Ensure maintenance tasks are completed in accordance with site policies and procedures
• Troubleshoot equipment-related process problems and equipment failures to determine the cause and investigate repairs
• Ensure effective completion and ongoing review of planned equipment maintenance routines on MAXIMO (site CMMS)
• Ensure all executed maintenance activities are recorded on MAXIMO (site CMMS)
• Support Engineering and Production personnel on continuous improvements and monitor equipment to recommend process improvements
• Minimise equipment downtime through fast response, effective root cause analysis and good problem-solving techniques
• Effectively analyse and eliminate recurring equipment problems

Mechanical Fitter Requirements

• Maintenance Fitter Craft Certificate or equivalent
• Good communication skills, teamwork abilities and initiative
• Self-motivated, with the ability to work in a team and/or on your own initiative
• Strong technical capability with attention to detail
• Expertise and knowledge of a WWTP would be an advantage
