Trainee Mechanical Inspector

Salary: £20-23k per annum
Hours of work: 37hrs per week (8am - 5pm Mon to Thurs & 8am - 12noon Friday)
Job Type: Permanent

Our client, a world-renowned aerospace and defence manufacturing business are currently looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Inspector to add to their ever-growing quality team.
The successful applicant will:

  • Undertake inspection training under the guidance of the Inspection Training Partner
  • To undertake a variety of processes for product verification of parts and components.
  • Ensure that all Inspection activities are delivered efficiently in accordance with the production schedule and company standard Operating Procedures and H&S requirements.

Key accountabilities:
To train and become competent in a variety of testing and inspection of components using a variety of processes and techniques in accordance Quality Assurance Instructions

To generate, maintain inspection documentation

Accurately interpret component drawings/test procedures and relevant information so that, part numbers, drawing issues, relevant ADR's, process specification and surface finishes can be accurately identified and applied

Use SAP computer system to undertake various transactions, such as:
Record work in progress
Tracking component batches through the manufacturing process
Record all non-conformance

To be conversant with and employ appropriate techniques as specified on the job cards relevant to specific components such that work is undertaken according to requirements

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Basic PC skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Good standard of education
  • Close attention to detail
  • Basic administration skills
  • interest Engineering

Candidates with some knowledge of Engineering drawings and an engineering or manufacturing background would be ideal, as would any experience using inspection tools
