In light of it being IWD on Saturday 8th March I wanted to write a blog on the modern struggles for women in 2025. So let’s look at some of the struggles woman face both in and outside of work, including a teen growing up in today’s world…
First World Problems – The Modern Girl Edition.
💄 Achieving perfection – getting that perfect selfie and creating the right photo ready angle at all times!
📱 iPhone Trauma: Your battery is at 1%, and you have left your charger at home, social exile is imminent.
☕ Coffee Catastrophe: You order an iced caramel oat milk latte, and they give you almond milk instead. Your whole day is ruined.
👗 Outfit Struggles: A wardrobe packed with clothes, yet somehow, you have nothing to wear. How does this happen?!
🎵 Playlist Drama: You’re emotionally attached to your Spotify queue, but someone dares to request a song, completely disrupting the vibe.
📸 Insta Woes: You took 127 photos, and not a single one is post-worthy. Time to reshoot.
We all know these aren’t real problems… so what has really changed for girls & women across the world?
Despite significant achievements, millions of adolescent girls across the world today are still out of school, ill-equipped for the future, facing gaps in life-saving health services, and at risk of harmful practices such as child marriage, mutilation, violence and abuse.
This is an unfinished Fight for Adolescent Girls’ in our Future.
Despite significant progress in education, healthcare, and gender equality, millions of adolescent girls worldwide remain trapped in cycles of disadvantage. Too many are still out of school, denied the opportunity to learn and build a future. Without access to quality education, they are left ill-equipped for the demands of the modern world, limiting their chances for economic independence and personal growth.
Beyond education, gaps in essential health services put girls at greater risk of preventable diseases, poor reproductive health outcomes, and inadequate mental health support. In many communities, deeply rooted societal norms continue to subject girls to harmful practices and these violations strip them of their rights, safety, and potential.
To break these barriers, we need to see a bigger global effort to prioritize policies that ensure every girl has access to education, healthcare, and protection. Investing in adolescent girls is not just a moral imperative—it is a critical step toward building stronger societies, healthier economies, and a more just world. Now more than ever, the fight for girls’ rights must be accelerated, ensuring that no girl is left behind.
So what do I think we will see more of in 2025?
2024/25 is shaping up to be a year of empowerment, refinement, and authenticity for women across all aspects of life—career, personal brand, style, and well-being. Based on current trends and in my professional opinion and area of expertise, here are some key areas women should be focusing on:
1. Personal Brand & Career Growth
Owning Their Personal Brand – Women should invest in refining how they present themselves, both in-person and online. Whether in corporate roles, entrepreneurship, or leadership positions, a strong, authentic personal brand is essential.
Networking & Visibility – It’s time to be more intentional about building connections and putting themselves forward for opportunities.
AI & Digital Upskilling – With AI-driven changes in recruitment, leadership, and branding, women should embrace digital tools to stay ahead.
2. Image & Style Evolution
Effortless Power Dressing – Gone are the days of rigid, traditional corporate wear. 2025 is about sophisticated yet comfortable style—powerful, polished, yet approachable. Curating a wardrobe that aligns with their personal brand and lifestyle, rather than just trends.
3. Confidence & Leadership Presence
Speaking Up & Being Seen – Women should take more space in boardrooms, media, and public speaking platforms.
Executive Presence – Not just about what they wear, but how they carry themselves—body language, tone, and assertiveness matter.
4. Work-Life Integration & Well-being
Setting Boundaries – Saying no more often and prioritizing energy for things that truly matter.
Financial Independence – More women should be focusing on wealth-building strategies, investments, and financial literacy.
Health & Longevity – Holistic well-being, from gut health to mental resilience, is a priority.
As someone who works in both recruitment and image consulting, Im seeing big shifts in all the above areas., but I’m interested to know what you think women should embrace more and how we can achieve more positive change in 2025?
